こんにちわ、ともだち（friends)
せんしゅまつ　とらドラを　みました
そしで、　アカメガ　キルも　みました
Toradora! is somewhat of a rom-com anime about some high school kids who fall in love and all the antics that go with that. While this is probably the first time I've seen this type of anime, I actually really enjoyed it. The jokes in it were pretty on-point. Just a classic sappy high school love story.
Akame ga Kill! on the other hand is a fantastic anime. This is the third time I've watched the show (only having 25 episodes or so makes it very binge-able). It's the story of a boy on a mission to save his village by becoming famous in the army of a corrupt nation, but ends up becoming an assassin...I know, a bit of a jump...While it starts out pretty lighthearted (maybe for 20 minutes), it gets dark real quick. It's a great choice for those who like a mixture of lighthearted friendship anime like Naruto or Gurren Laagan, but mixed with really dark moments in between. I would highly recommend it.
Now a certain someone (ナイロスさん）said that I should give Assassination Classroom a try. More to come on that front.

Kon nichi wa fellow Elementary Japanese...people?,

For this post, I came across a site with a heading "30 Difficult Important Katakana Words".
Some of the words/phrases include "ファイト"(Faito), which means "Go for it!" Surprisingly enough, this phrase (faito) was based on the english word "fight", even though apparently it doesn't have any sort of violent meaning behind it. Also, it is noted that if you hear someone say "faito", you should respond "IPPAAATSU!" The more you know. Another one I saw that is much more concerning for us college students is "サービス"(Saabisu), which means "free of charge". This word is going to be a life (money) saver, folks! Keep up the good work!

I'm hoping anime counts here. One that I would recommend to anyone interested is "Gurren Lagann". Fantastic anime with amazing fight scenes. If you aren't a big fan of big robot fights (Can there be anybody who isn't a fan of big robot fights?), then this may not be the one for you. GL is one of the most hilarious anime I have watched so far. If you have any recommendations, I would be happy to hear any!

Kon nichi wa, everyone!
My name is David Ahlf, and I am currently a Junior Accounting major at Notre Dame. I decided to take Japanese mostly because I am a very big fan of anime, and I wanted to learn more about the genre that has taken up probably way too much time in my life. Also, I am planning on applying to a program where business students would spend three weeks on a course about Japanese business and customs, and would spend about a week or so in Japan. I am excited to try learning a new language for the first time in a few years, and hope that maybe in the next few semesters I can become decently proficient in Japanese.
